ANNUAL ROWING RACE
Christ’s College Beats Wanganui Collegiate By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, December 16. The annual rowing race between crews representing Wanganui Collegiate School and Christ’s College was rowed on the river Avon to-day. Christ's College won by five lengths. Tbe time, smin. 45sec., was good for the course. Christ’s College were never extended, and could certainly have reduced the time. The Wanganui crew averaged 11st. 71b., and Christ’s College list. 101 b. Wanganui went off with a striking rate of about 36 to the minute, but could not obtain a lead over Christ’s College, who were striking much more slowly and keeping a stroke of full length well together. At the half-mile Christ’s College went into tbe lead easily, and continued to draw away. The crews were: —Christ's College: A. T. Johns (stroke), J. R. S. Orhell (3), T. D. J. Holderness (2). P. H. Tovey (how). 'Wanganui: C.- M. Didsbury (stroke). E. R. W. Bidwill (3), V. R. Smith I'2). S. W. S. Beedie (bow).
