Woman Sees Murder Of
Lover
New, York, December 12. Another atrocious gangster killing occurred in the‘metropolitan area today, the murdered man’s sweetheart witnessing the crime. Two men arrived at the woman’s
apartment and bound and gagged her and a visitor who had come to close a deal with her lover, Sam Mandel, who was an alcohol runner and notorious ever since prohibition. The assassins then waited patiently. The woman’s brother arrived, and him, too. they bound and laid on the floor. Then further footsteps were heard outside the door. These the woman apparently recognised as Maudel’s. She kicked the doo- near which she was lying. Maudel, growing suspicious, fled down the stairs, but the assassins went after him and riddled his body with bullets as he reached the street. The assassins escaped.
On arriving at the scene the police found that the woman, who after the shooting somehow succeeded in loosening her cords, was standing screaming hysterically beside the corpse.
