SEALING-WAX BEADS
A dainty, inexpensive and easily made gift, and one that will bring never-ending delight to your younger friends, is a string of sealing-wax beads. Procure a strong thread the length desired, a few different coloured sticks of sealing-wax, a steel needle —and you have all the materials required. A few glass beads wou-d make a desirable addition, but are not necessarv. Break off a piece of sealingwax. heat over lighted candle, press into shape desired. Over another candle flame have needle heating. When you take the heated bead from flame, anil have shaped it. thrust heated needle through centre of bead, then din instantly into cold water to harden. The result is n durable object. Before hardening the bead. curious ‘dents” can be pressed on it. This makes the bead look mysterious and fascinating. Or you can if you wish compose one bead of several different colours. . Clear glass beads contrast excellently with wax ano can be threaded among the others. You should soon learn to love this fascinating pastime, and without a doubt the recipients of your gifts will love them. A little practice will soon make you adept, and you will soon learn to arrange the bends in an attractive manner. Clasps can be bought at any store to affix to the ends of the string— Rosa Green, Hukanui.
