PICTON EXCURSION
Christmas holiday-makers will have an opportunity again this year of a day trip to Pieton. by the Rangatira which is timed to leave 'Wellington on Boxing Day at 8 a.m. This modern express steamer’s speed should enable her to make the crossing from heads to heads in an hour and a quarter, and with the run down Wellington Harbour at one end and up Tory Channel and Queen Charlotte Sound at the other she should arrive at Pic-ton by about half past ten. practically half the time being spent in sheltered water. Those who wish to go further afield than Pieton may proceed by train to Blenheim, leaving Pieton at 10.45 a.m. and returning before the steamer leaves. Others may prefer to visit some of the lovely beauty spots on the other side of Queen Charlotte Sound, and for this purpose special launches will run in connection with the excursion and the steamer Tuatea will make a threehour cruise from Pieton around the Grove Arm and Double Bay. The Rangatira will leave Pieton again for the return run nt 2.30 p.m. to arrive in Wellington shortly after 5 p.m.
