PIANOFORTE RECITAL

Students of Miss V. Corliss An entertaining recital of pianoforte music was given by the senior students of Miss Valerie Corliss in Miss Lorna Black’s studio last night. Miss Corliss introduced the players, and enhanced many of their solos by her illustrative remarks. The studio was attractively decorated with summer flowers. The programme was a long and varied one and ranged from early Italian and German music down through a number of periods, and including French, Spanish, Cuban. Finnish, and modern British music. Tlie performances were of a high standard, showing a clear brilliance of tone and imaginative interpretation. Many of the soloists obviously. knew 7 how to use the piano as a means of expression, and their playing showedoriginality. The performers were: Catherine Moucrieff, Grace Johnstpne, Grace.Gatidin, Marjorie Keall, Edward Burt,. Keith Picton, Madge McWhinney, Florence ' Caverhill, John McGill, Jean Knox Gilmer, Dorothy La Roche, and Patricia Marshall.
