Temporary Appointment The recent appoint me nt of Squadron Leader J. D. Hewett, of Auckland, as second pilot to Air Travel N.Z. Ltd. was the subject of a statement by the Hewett-Testimonial Fund Committee. It was explained that the appointment as second pilot was only for the tourist season, about two or three months, aud Ciitltl not be regariled as a permanency, stales the "New Zealand Herald.” The company liy which Squadron Leader Hewett bad been engaged had two Fox Moth machines and during tlie season both would be in use. Later in the year, however, a second pilot would probably not be required. In tlie circumstances. the committee was continuing its endeavours to raise sufficient funds to provide a machine for Squadron Leader Hewett.
