PUDDINGS SPOILED
Sand in Brown Sugar London, December 6. Hundreds of home-made Christmas puddings have been discovered to have been made from brown sugar containing sand. A ship load of sugar was imported from Barbados specially for puddings and was retailed. There was no suspicion until housewives complained of a gritty taste, aud examination revealed that not only was the sugar gritty, but peppery and pebbly, and grocers are offering a refund o± the cost of the puddings. Native sabotage at the port of embarkation is suspected.
