EUROPEAN TENSION
« “Explosion May Occur” SPEECH BY GOERING Hamburg, December 6. General Goering, speaking at a muss meeting, said that Europe was in a state of great tension, and despite the German people’s love of peace an explosion might occur. “We must be ready for it,” be said. “It is not butter that will save us then, but cannons. The shortage of foreign currency accounts for the shortage of butter. An increase of wages is impossible because it would prevent the completion of rearmament.”
