Easier Tendency Last Week MARKET CLOSED FIRM By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London. December 6. At the wool tsales 7525 bales were offered, including 5296 from New Zealand. There was a fair clearance. About 5800 bales of Australian’and New Zealand were sold. New Zealand greasy halfbred, “RWM/Monalto,” brought Hid. to 14}d. The series opened with a most spirited tone and widespread competition. Home buyers were prominent, and French and Americans showed greater activity in demand. Immediate requirements being satisfied, toward the close of the series competition slackened, and part of the advance in some grades was lost. Merino greasy super warp showed a 7-1 per cent, advance. Topmaking styles were 5 per cent., scoured fleeces 71 per cent, to 10 per cent., and pieces 10 to 15 per cent, dearer. Crossbreds lost part of the rise owing to the offering of a large amount of old wools. Fines advanced 74 per cent, to 10 per cent., mediums 5 per cent, to 10 per cent., and coarse 10 per cent. Other grades were 10 per cent, dearer.

The total catalogued was 128,380_bales, and the quantity sold was : Home 58,000, Continent 58,000, America 3000. Twentynine thousand bales were hold, 'rhe total sales were: Australian 55,000, New Zealand 59,000.

Bank of New South Wales: —Wool sales close to-day with good competition and clearances have been satisfactory. Prices have eased slightly during the week with exception of halfbrede, which are generally harder. Average or estimated prices of New Zealand greasy fleece ordinary top-making wools : —Merino, 6(1/04, to 12d.; fine i-bred, 56/58, to 134 d.; 4-bred, 50/56. to 104 d.: 5-ln-ed, 48/50, to Bfd.; fine crossbred. -16/48. to 8-' k d.; medium crossbred. 44/46, to 7sd.; crossbred, 40/44, to 7-Jd. Levin and Co;, Ltd.: The auctions closed firm, buyers operating freely, particularly for halfbreds and slipe wools generally. Compared with the opening rates we quote: Market unchanged generally. with the exception of scoured crossbreds and slipe wools, which are a little dearer. Greasy crossbreds market is rather irregular. Total quantity offered 128,000 bales, sold 119,000 bales, carried forward 29.000 bales, including 21.000 from New Zealand. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd.: Sales have closed with a good tone, competition keen. All sections operating freely. Compared with last London sale’s closing rates: —Greasy merino, best descriptions, advanced 10 per cent.: greasy merino, wool suitable for the Continent, advanced 5 per cent.; scoured merino best, advanced 5-10 per cent.; scoured merino, other descriptions, advanced 1015 -per cent.; crossbred greasy fine, advanced 10-15 per cent.; crossbred greasy medium, advanced 10-15 per cent.; crossbred greasy coarse, advanced 10-15 per cent.; faulty and inferior descriptions show the least advance. Crossbred scoured and slipe crossbred advanced 1015 per cent. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd.: The wool sales have closed. The market continued active and competition was animated. Continental and Bradford buyers were the chief operators. A total of 128,000 bales was offered and of these 119,000 were sold. An average selection of wool was offered. As compared with prices realised half-way through the series, flue, medium and coarse crossbred wools are a halfpenny down. Australian merino prices were 2J per cent, to 5 per cent, lower, but lambs’ slipe wool was 2J per cent, to 5 yer cent, higher. We quote the following average realisations: — Greasy merino, 60/64 yielding 48 per cent., 12d. Greasy line -J-bretl, 56/58 yielding 62 per cent. 13}d. Greasy halfbred, 50/56 yielding 68 pet’ cent., 10£d. Greasy J-bred, 48/50 yielding 74 per cent. BJd. Greasy fine crossbred. 46/48 yielding 7;> per cent., Bjd. Greasy medium crossbred, 44/46 yielding 75 per cent. 7Jd. Greasy crossbred, 40/44 yielding 76 per cent. 7Jd. Greasy coarse crossbred, 36/40 yielding 70 per cent. 7jd. Of 34,910 bales submitted at the series, 92 per cent, was sold at auction. In sympathy with the latest rates in fhe Eastern Slates and London, the market is quoted as slightly in buyers’ favour.
