LACE IS A LEADER
For Dresses, Blouses and Lingerie Whatever may come along in _ the way of strange and bizarre materials, one thing is certain—lace will hold its own. At overseas dress shows clouds of lace appear on everything. It is used for gowns for afternoon and evening wear, for blouses, for hats—very discreetly, and not at all in the Victorian manner—and for lingerie. What better choice for the woman with a small dress allowance and rather larger ideas on the subject of dress? The “little frock” of honey coloured lace for dinner or dance, with a well-lit ting Illy green taffetas slip, takes on the air of quite a new creation when it is furnished with a second slip and s'ash in black satin. Lace blouses are extremely good Style with suits of all descriptions, while for afternoon and informal evening wear they may be worn with black taffetas and satin skirts. A little pressing is all that is l needed to keep them spick and span. As for lingerie, we have little lace jackets and capes to accompany the nightdress, insets of lace on the pyjamas and slips, and some of the more intimate garments are composed almost entirely of lace, a fashion which is not as expensive as it sounds, because of the good wearing qualities of fine lace when backed with similarly fine net. Though the lace gown is best of all fashioned by an expert hand ,the vogue for lace is a boon to the home dressmaker, since little or no trimming is required other than a flower or two to provide the harmonising or contrasting note of colour.
