QUICK SNACKS
A quickly prepared hot meal for the flat-dweller or for emergency entertaining can be made from sandwiches. An ordinary sandwich should be made from whatever materials are available, by placing the filling between two slices of buttered bread. Cut the sandwiches into neat triangles or circles, and dip these into a batter made from an egg and three tablespoonfuls of milk seasoned with salt and pepper. Have some butter heated in a frying pan, and fry on both sides until the egg sets. Another suggestion is to butter the bread, sprinkle it with grated cheese, put on a slice of cooked ham or grilled bacon, press on another piece of buttered bread, and fry on both sides until the bread is crisp.
