PLUNKET SOS APPEAL

To-day the Plunket nurses are holding a garden party, commencing at 2 p.m., at.the Plunket Rooms, IS Kent Terrace, in aid of the Plunket S.O.S. Appeal, and all mothers, children and friends are invited. Games and competitions, many especially for the children, will be held, and there will be a number of stalls, for which contributions will be welcomed by the nurses. To-morrow night, what promises to be a particularly entertaining benefit concert will take place at the King’s Theatre. This has been made possible through the courtesy of Amalgamated Theatres, who have given the use of the theatre, the Australian Trade Commissioner and Australian and New Zealand Pictures Ltd., who have kindly granted the use of highly-interesting travel films. In addition, popular artists will take part, including Miss Christina Young (soprano), Mr. James Osborne (tenor), Mr. Ken. Rigby (baritone), Mr. Norman Izitt, L.R.S.M. (accompanist), Mr. Harper (violinist), and Miss Lolita Lees, formerly of the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra (harpist). Reserves may be obtained at. the booking office at the D.I.C. for the dress circle, on payment of 1/booking fee, and entrance to the body of the ball will be by silver coin collection. The grand finale will be the garden fete at the old Ministerial residence on Thursday, December 5, at 3.30 p.m The crowning ceremony is being arranged by Miss Jean Knox Gilmer ami Uncle Campbell of 2YA will entertain the children. The entrance fee will bi- I/- for adults and (id for children Afternoon tea will be od.
