Canterbury Produce Markets By Telegraph.—Press Association Christchurch, August 30. The grain and produce markets continue very quiet, particularly potatoes, m which very little has been done, and quotations have not moved. Two ships got away this week. The Port Waikato took 1200 sacks from Ti'mitru and 990 from Lyttelton, a total of 2190. and the Waipiatn 661 from Bluff, 2090 from Timaru and 3100 from Lyttelton, a total of 8041. both ships mailing for Auckland. The Port Waikato also took about 500 sack" for outports. The consumption in Auckland continues fairly steady in spite of high prices there, and as the policy this seasm has been to buy from hand to mouth the shipments this week are expected to keep the market there quiet for a while. One interesting development has been a few forward dealings in next year’s crop. The basis has been about £4 f.o.b. There has been no movement at all in other markets.
