On New Zealand Currency Basis DIRECT DOLLAR RATES The Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, quoted the following rates for their purchases and sales of foreign exchange yesterday:—

The Associated Banks (other than the Bank of New South Wales) quoted the following dollar rates yesterday on a New Zealand currency basis. They are subject to alteration without notice.

Silver—Cash, 29d. per ounce; forward, 28 13-10 d. Kildare Gold Mining Co. The Kildare Consolidated Gold Mining Company, Ltd. (St. Bathans), reports that n wash-up has licen completed for a return of 48oz. 4dwt- The manager advises that severe frosts delayed the washup. the boxes being frozen until about 1 p.m. each day. He further advised that he did not expect to get a great deal of gold this time, as they have been blowing the gravel on a soft muddy bottom, and it was difficult to get it all to the elevator.
