SPRING SONG My song is the song of birds. Of the dreaming velvet shy, Of the gleaming 'gold of crocuses. Where crystal poolets lie, For I have danced with the daffodils Though none were as happy as I. My song is the song of winds, That kiss the trees and pray Among the lowly primroses Like scented fragile play, For I have used their honey-gold To buy a shining day. My song is the song of trees That from the warm earth bring Their furry silver pussy-buds, And ivory blossoms fling, For I have paused beneath their boughs To glimpse the Lady Spring. Original by Mary Greig, Wanganui. TO SPRING Fair Lady of Spring Art thou calling here With ivonderful sunshine And skies plue and cigar? Are you visiting us, And how long is your stay? Oh! come and abide ' 1 In this clime, I pray. Oh! bring us your gay times The daffodils gold! F The glorious blushes < As rosebuds unfold! Of gambolling lambkins In meadows of green, Oh! abide with us ever Of seasons the Queen! Original, by “Lobelia,” Hukar.ui.
