WELFARE WORK

Miramar League of Mothers The annual meeting of the Miramar branch of the League of Mothers was held recently in the Methodist Hall. The president, Mrs. Wall, presided over a large gathering of members and friends, and extended a warm welcome to visitors. Mrs. Potakl, a Seatoun member, was called upon to sing, and afterward led a popular chorus, which was much enjoyed. The secretary presented the annual report, which showed a steady advance in the branch. The balance-sheet present I by the treasurer also showed most satisfactory returns. Before the election of officers a short admission service was held, when two more members were enrolled. Mrs. Marshall took the chair vacated by Mrs. Wall for the election of president, and said she had much pleasure in proposing the re-election of Mrs. Wall. She stressed the value of the work Mrs. Wall had done, and her reelection was carried unanimously. Mesdames Fulton and Marshall were re-elected vice-presidents; Mrs. Wallace, secretary; Mrs. Fulton, treasurer; and Mrs. McBean. assistant secretary. Six new members were added to the standing committee, Mesdames Arbuckle, Christie, McNally, McDonald, Edwards and Fevre. After the serving of afternoon tea by the committee, Mrs. Fellowes, also from Seatoun, gave some delightful recitations. A competition was won by Mrs. Melvin, and the choir under the conductorship of Miss Cullen, gave two enjoyable items. Before the meeting ended, Mrs. Wall spoke of the good work of Mrs. Pritchard. who was res'gning from the committee. She had been the first treasurer of the branch, had. worked most zealously, and would be greatly missed from the committee. Mrs Howard moved a vote of thanks to Mrs. Potaki and Mrs. Fellowes, and the singing of the National Anthem brought to a close a most enjoyable afternoon.
