QUAKE MORTGAGORS

Question Before Authorities

The difficulties of many of the Hawke's Bay earthquake mortgagors were pointed out by Mr. H. M. Campbell (Govt., Hawke’s Bay), in a question asked the Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr. Campbell asked whether steps could be taken to ease their position, and if so when could that be done.

Mr. Coates suggested that the question be asked the following day or on Tuesday, when he would be in a position to reply. The question raised by Mr. Campbell had been before himself and the Treasury for some days.
