Close of Union’s Dominion Conference

OFFICERS FOR YEAR The annual conference of the League of Nations Union of New Zealand, which opened in Wellington ou Wednesday, closed yesterday. Remits carried included the following :—

“Believing tlm' the churches could do more effective work in helping to educate and make more effective public- opinion concerning the League of Nations, we recommend that strong efforts should be made to secure the more active co-operation of as many individual congregations as possible." (Auckland.) “That the conference regrets the unfavourable tope of the clause relating to administration methods in the report on Western Samoa adopted by the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations at its twentysixth session (October-November, 1934), and urges the Government to take steps to make such a report impossible in future by providing the commission with fullest letails of the political situation in Samoa and its improvement, and also by giving fullest consideration to the recommendations O' the commission.” , “That the conference express appreciation of the increasing interest in, and sympathy with, the League of Nations Union shown by a number of conferences of churches, tea hers, Returned Soldiers’ Associations, and other bodies representing influential sections of public opinion” (Auckland.)
