BRIEF OBSERVATIONS
Wrist’length gloves are frightfully chic with all the new elbow-length or three-quarter sleeves.
Pale sun-tan or pale pinkey beige stockings or, to wear with the oatmeal or greige frocks, the most neutral stocking you can find. Due to shorter skirts stockings more visible, therefore sheerer.
White gloves only when there is a touch of white on your costume or hat, otherwise beige or greige to grey.
Amusing blouses —white pique with anything. Natural chamois with tweed, bright red silk or navy blue taffeta under grey, navy and white stripe under beige, navy under mauve, bright purple, red and white with navy.
Skirts by day about 12in. off the ground. By evening, some touching, many trained, some short in front.
The smartest colour is a new bright carbon blue.

The new corsets try more and more to give you a waistline —to define you; but they do take care to let you breathe in the approved modern manner.
Sleeves are to be immensely wide, puff or bishop sleeves in elbow or threequarter length with pleatings, tucks or gauging for afternoon or evening.
A smart ensemble —a knife-pleated skirt of black crepe with a blouse and tailored short coat of grey and white daisy printed taffeta —the collar black velvet.
A black satin skirt and short coat and hat of white pique.
Coats are slightly more waisted this season.-
Printed jersey is being used for the latest bathing suits.
Many of the wide beach hats are only brims. You put them on over a handkerchief or veil for a crown.
Pastel linen nightgowns appliqued with satin will take.
The new fashions in hairdressing all have a tendency away from anything that is "set>” and "tight.”
Short bright scarves tie loosely round the neck or inside a narrow stand-up collar with the ends tucked in, » » *
A nightgown of pure white satin with a sash lined with navy blue.
Palest pink very soft taffeta for a nightgown, with two long pleats that ripple out round the feet.
Swimmers are taking to handblocked linens and cottons, printed trim wool jerseys and polka dotted silks.
Summer evening frock—blue and white chintz printed in a flower design.
