PLAGUE OF RABBITS

English Farmers’ Losses

EAST ANGLIA OVERRUN

London, August 25.

.The “Daily Telegraph” says that a rabbit plague is causing severe losses to farmers, especially in East Anglia, which is overrun. Mr. S. Radcliff, ex-president of rhe National Farmers’ Union, ascribes the plague partly to mild springs and hot summers, but chiefly to the low price of imported rabbit meat making trapping unprofitable. Ho points out that England imported £576,000 worth of frozen rabbits in 1934, and suggests a heavy tariff on imported rabbit meat.
