Dominion Special Service. Woodville, August 2(i. The annual meeting of the Woodville District Jockey Club attracted the largest attendance in the history of the club. An animated discussion arose over the incident which resulted in the rejection of 27 candidates for memberwhip at the last meeting of stewatxiw. Although the discussion on this point at times became quite heated it ended ou a happy note. Upon the clowe of the discussion Mr. R. R. Johnston proposed the following motion, which was seconded by many voices ; "That this general meeting of the members of the Woodville District Jockey Club regrets the incident and dewires that each of tbewe 27 candidates be written to, explaining the circumstances and asking them to allow themselves to be renominated for membership.” The motion was carried unanimously. The treasurer, Mr. J. Elder, was reelected, and Messrs. G. Peebles, 11. Illy, W. H. Brotherstone and G, B. De Ath were elected to the four vacancies on the
committee of stewards. All with the exception of Mr. Brotheretone were stewards last year who retired bj’ the effluxion of time.
