a request to be excused from service ou the jury as be “honestly believed that all crime was a question of insanity and should l>e treated as such, was made by a middle-aged man in the Wellington Supreme Court yesterday. “I don’t know whether you are right or wrong,” said the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), "but I do know this, that under the law as it stands to-day you are not lit to sit as a juryman, therefore you are exempted.” The man left the court immediately, but a few moments later was brought back at the direction of his Honour. “I would just like to add this.” said his Honour, “I would keep you here the whole week, even though you were challenged on every occasion, but it would mean an expense to the country, and I don't see why the country should submit to that/’
