Staged with all its Eastern splendour and colour. "The Geisha” is to be produced in Wellington on August 3. Scenic and lighting effects will be of a.most elaborate nature. As chief Geisha, Doris Gilmore, of Ilawera, is one of the "finds” of the Operatic Society. Described as Taranaki’s "Queen of Song,” Miss Gilmore, although quite young, has already had an interesting musical career as a singer, elocutionist., and actress. She has passed many examinations, including Royal Academy advanced grade. Trinity College for singing. Ilawera competitions singing championship, and a championship in elocution.
