FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Fair to fine generally; cold to-night, frosts inland. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for 24 hours ending 4 p.m. to-day : An anti-cyclone has remained stationary over the Dominion, with relatively low pressure to the north. A depression on the western Tasman ben appeals to have been losing intensity. South-easterly winds at. first in the Cook Strait area: otherwise north-easterly to northerly prevailing. Light to moderate but freshening in the south. Seas smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to fresh north-east to north winds, with moderate to rather rough seas, in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather fair to lino generally, but cloud increasing in western districts and the far south, with some showers developing. Cold to-night with sharp inland frosts, but milder to-morrow. Sunday : Cloudy in morning; light northerly breeze. Wanganui.—Fine but overcast on Saturday. Sunday : Fine and warm: Auckland Saturday: Fine but cold; rain commenced in evening and continued during night, and yesterday was very cold and raw. Christchurch. —Fine and mild. Barometer high and steady.
