Britain’s Difficulty
London, July 15.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer. Mr. Neville Chamberlain, addressing the conference of the Empire Parliamentary Association, said that Britain was anxious to secure currency stabilisation, but French and American adherence to the'old gold standard was the chief difficulty.
Therefore he felt it was wisest to maintain sterling on the present Hues pending a return to some form of gold standard.
