VIENNA IN MOURNING
Death of Frau Schuschnigg
(Received July 15, 7.30 p.m.)
Vienna, July 14. The city is in mourning over the death of Frau Schuschnigg, wife of the Chancellor, in a motor accident. The Pope, the Archduke Otto and his mother, the ex-Empress Zita, have sent messages expressing their grief. Prince Starhemberg arrived by air. Accompanied by Dr. Schuschnigg, the body of Fran Schuschnigg arrived from Linz. Prince Starhemberg and the whole of the Cabinet were on the platform. The collin was blessed by priests and taken to Heitzing parish church.
Dr. Schuschnigg was only slightly injured in the shoulder. The “Daily Mail’s" Vienna correspondent says that a newspaper was fined £8 for stating that the chauffeur of Dr. Schuschnigg’s car had died. The chauffeur, who is recovering, says that he was unaware of faintness or any other cause for the accident.
The “Daily Telegraph’s” Vienna correspondent says it is officially announced that Dr. Schuschnigg hopes to resume his duties in a few days.
