The Rev. J. R, Blanchard left Wellington for the South Island last night. Mr. G. McNiuuara, Director-General of the Post - and Telegraph Department, was a passenger from Wellington for the south last night.

Mr. Vincent Aspey left Wellington last night for the squill.

Mr. R. A. Laidlaw joined the Limited express at Palmerston North last night, en route to Auckland.

Mr. J. W. G. Brodie, of British and Dominions Traders Ltd., travelled south last night from Wellington.

Mr. 11. W. Moss was a passenger from Wellington last night for tlie South Island.

Messrs. Toose and Broad. of Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., left Wellington for the north last night.

Mr. J. F. Alexander, honorary chief instructor of the New Zealand Surf Life-saving Association, left Wellington last night for Invercargill.

Mr. John Pearson Phillips has been appointed to the senior board of Messrs. Harrisons Ramsay Proprietary, Ltd. Mr. Phillips Ims been manager for his company since 1921, and will continue to be stationed nt the Wellington office.

.Mr. J. F. Cousins, secretary of the New Zealand Motor Traders’ Association. left for Christchurch last evening. where lie will attend the annual meeting of tlie Canterbury branch of the association.

Dr. C. E. Booby, executive officer of tlie New Zealand Council for Educational Research, is visiting Christchurch and will later leave for Dunedin. He is at present engaged in arranging to secure data from the four centres for the council’s investigation of the effect of the school entrance age on the subsequent work of children.

Mr. A. L. M. Perry, a member of the staff of the Christchurch Boys' High School for the last seven years, and an old boy of the school, will leave Christchurch next month on a visit to England and the Continent. Mr. Perry, who before his present appointment was on the staff of the Wanganui Collegiate School, expects to be absent from New Zealand for u period of two years. He will do post-graduate study in modern languages and will investigate recent developments in education abroad.
