Musical Evening A musical evening was given by Miss Hiscock’s pupils to their parents and friends on Friday evening in the Rechabites’ Hall, Willis Street. Those taking part were: Joyce Richardson, Marjorie Nelson, Katie Jourdain, Doris Morgan, Paula Baxter, Joan Diack, Ethel Parkins, Mary Campion, June Davis, Noeline Myers, Shirley Hotter, Dora Bishop, Alison Campbell, Helen Read, Marie Russell, Gwenda Hunt, Claude Cornfoot, John Lowe. John Knight, Vivian Hall, Desmond Spellerberg and Lawrence Hunt. Miss Grace Johnston and Miss Joyce Myers contributed songs, which were much appreciated. Prizes were given for an essay on “How to Practise a New Piece,” the winners being Marjorie Nelson, Katie Jourdain, Noeline Myers, Mary Campion, Alison Campbell, Dora Bishop, John Knight and John Lowe. Thespians’ Reading A very fine and moving play by Mordaunt Shairp, “The Green Bay Tree,” was read by the Thespians ■ at. their usual weekly play-reading last night. A strong cast gave an excellent rendering of the play, and the evening was most successful, the packed audience of members showing great* enthusiasm. Members' who took part were Miss Sheila Kissel, Miss Ngaire Horton, and Messrs. Victor S. -Lloyd. Vyrn Evans. Phipps-Williams and Myles F. E. Wright. Those present stayed after the reading to enjoy supper, and discuss the reading.
