TUBERCULOSIS FIGHT
Question of Milk Germs Iu the uew proposal for hospital boards in the AVelUngton and Hawke’s Bay provinces to develop a scheme to attack tuberculosis, the question of treating dairy herds in New Zealand to free milk from the germs should be included, said Mr. G. Y. Berry at last night's meeting of the AA’elllngton Hospital Board. . 5 , . • He understood that experimental treatment in England had reached that stage where it was definitely proved that calves vaccinated with a preparation soon after their birth were absolutely immune from tuberculosis for the rest of their lives. It had beeen reported that Ireland for one was bringing hi a law making it compulsory for all calves to be treated in this way. “I believe that factories are being set up iu England to manufacture the preparation, and it-'would probably be made available to other countries, including the Dominions,” Mr. Berry said. He advocated that the hospital boards should go into the question for the purpose of co-operating in evolving some such scheme as that in Ireland.
