Harris—Conwell The marriage was solemnised in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, of Maggie, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Conwell, Carterton, and Jack, fourth son of Mr. and the late Mrs. A. A. Harris, Masterton. The Rev. A. Byers, M.A., was the officiating minister. ' The bride was dressed in a gown of cream satin beaute, cut on classic lines, with a slim-fitting skirt which flared into a train. The bodice had a long eowl at the neck, and the sleeves also had cowl lines. Her veil was held to the head with orange blossoms, and she carried a sheath of arum lilies and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, Miss Rene Elery, Palrqerston North, and Miss G Conwell, Dalefield, wore frocks of magnolia satin beaute trimmed with scarlet velvet sashes. They also wore scarlet shoes and head-dresses to tone, and carried bouquets of scarlet cyclamen and berries. The two little flower girls, Joan Merwood and Maureen Conwell, ,were dressed in frocks of the same 'colouring. They carried silver horse shoes, which they presented to the bride. .■ Messrs. Roy Taylor and Jack Conwell were best man and groomsman respectively. , ; After the ceremony a reception was held in the Galaxy Hall, where Mrs. Conwell, wearing a black suit with black hat and shoes, received ' the guests. ❖ * # Dalrymple—White A wedding of interest throughout the Rangitikei district was solemnised in Melbourne recently, when Mildred, elder daughter of Mr. and .Mrs. A. G. White, Hillside, Duneed, was married to Roy Ogilvie, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Dalrymple, Waitapia, Bulls. The ceremony took place in St. James’s Church of England, East Malvern. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle-length frock of lightweight woollen material in the new shade of tamarisk pink, the only trimming being bands of dyed squirrel fur, giving a cape-like effect. It was finished at the neck with a bow and ends of the material. She wore a soft brown felt hat, and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and autumn leaves. The bride was attended by her two nieces, Misses Moira and Elizabe’h McNair, who wore frocks of claret red velvet and baiids in their hair. They carried posies to tone. ■Mr. Martin Willis, Woodendean, Greatford, nephew of the bridegroom, was best man, and the ceremony was performed by the Archdeacon of Gippsland (the Very Rev. D. W. Weir), assisted by the Rev. R. H. B. Williams A wedding tea was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. McNair, Fair view Grove, East Malvern, where Mr. and Mrs. A G. White received relatives and close friends. WOMEN’S INSTITUTES FEDERATION The first display by the Wanganui Federation of Women’s Institutes was opened in the Drill Hall, Wanganui, yesterday, and drew a large attendance. In addition to classes for every conceivable type of handcrafts, beautifully arranged “courts” composed of varieties of fancy work, and “pantry” exhibitions, with home-made foods, and soap, and oils, filled the big hall. The exhibition committee comprised: —Mrs. W. Morrison and Miss Siddells (Maswell), Mrs. Shanks (Kaitoke), Mrs. Luff (Makirikiri), Mesdames J. Brine and Rush (Aramoho), Miss Flyger (Fordell), Mrs. Robinson (Westmere), Mrs. Newsome (Okoia), and Mrs. Hugh Wheeler (Kai Iwi). The exhibition was officially opened by the mayor, Mr. W. J, Rogers. The Dominion president of the Women’s Institute movement. Mrs. Patterson, presented the challenge shield to the Maxwell Institute anti certificates to Aramoho anrj Westmere Institutes, which were placed second and third in the handcraft courts, and Westmere and Turakina Institutes', which were placed first equal in the pantry section.
