Secrecy Demanded
T?OR several months work on the film ■ specially adapted by H. G. Wells from his book “The Shape of Things to Come” has been proceeding at Elstree. This London film production, “Whither Mankind?” called for a large amount of special photography and effects, intricate models and imaginative constructional problems before any actual shooting could be done. Effects unknown even in American studios have been perfected and will be used for the first time in this film. An imaginative production dealing with the future of mankind must necessarily be made under conditions of strict secrecy. Every , technician and workman on the pic-' tore was sworn not to divulge the many interesting problems being solved in the studios, and no photographs of the sets or machines were issued during production.
Ruther Chatterton has at last signed a contract with Columbia and is fixed for a picture. It will be an adaptation of the I. A. R. Wylie novel, “Feather in Her Hat.” After that she will be starred in another adaptation of a novel, “Modern Lady,” by Grace Perkins.
