Stars as Extras
POWELL and ’ Ginger Rogers stepped right into the thick of the extra ranks for “Star of Midnight,” an RKO Radio picture. Scenes were being filmed in a theatre, and the two were among those who comprised the audience. When they took their seats the assistant director ordered the “atmosphere” players to fill in the rest of the chairs. A wild scramble took place as the extras sought seats nearest Powell and Miss Rogers.
O. P. Heggie, the South Australian, has been signed for an important role in “Spring in Paris,” the next picture to star 16-year-old Anne Shirley. Heggie and Miss Shirley are old friends, having appeared together in “Anne of Green Gables,” the picture which made Anne Shirley famous and gave Heggie one of his greatest screen roles to date.
