Council Recognises Hon. R. McCallum’s Services

The Hon. R. McCallum, M.L.C., who has been a member of the Council of Victoria University College since 1904 and chairman for one term, was defeated in the recent election of one member by education boards in the Victoria University district. At last night’s meeting-of the council, the chairman, Mr. I*. Levi, moved that tlie council express’ its regret that Mr. McCullum would not for the ensuing term be a member, and record appreciation of the valuable services he had given. The motion was seconded by Mr. T. Forsyth and carried. A letter was received advising that the Governor-General had appointed Mr. T. Forsyth to the vacancy occasioned by the death of (lie late Mr. A. R. Atkinson, and that Dr. T. D. M. Stout had been reappointed for a further term.

The Wellington City Council advised that it' had reappointed Mr. H. A. R. Huggins, and the Professorial Board that it. had re-elected Professor J. Rankine Brown as one of its representatives.

The returning officer advised that the elections had resulted in the return of the following members:—Mr. Justice 11. H. Ostler and Mr. P. Levi (court of convocation), Hon. W. IL Mclntyre (members of education boards), H. A. Parkinson - (teachers ■of primary schools.), T. R. Cresswell (teachers of secondary, schools, technical high schools or combined schools). IV. 11. P. Barber (governing bodies of secondary schools).
