LODGE MEETINGS

Independent Oddfellows When Ngati-toa Lodge No. 113 (Porirua), 1.0.0. F., N.Z., met recently, Bro. L. Swainson, N.G., presided, there also being present Bro. G. F. Budkin, Grand Warden, Bro. H, H. Coote, P.D.D G.M., P.G.L.Rep., and Bro. D. Fraser, N.G., and officers of Maraenui Lodge No. 124, Miramar. In addition to general busiuess, three candidates were and on behalf of the lodge the Grand .Warden presented Bro. J. Herlihy, P.G., with a Past Grand Jewel in recognition, of services in the various chairs. The evening was concluded with, a competition with Maraenui Lodge for the district “500” shield, Ngatitoa Lodge retaining it by 9 points to 8. making its sixth successive win. Island Bay Meeting. Wildey Lodge No. 107, Island Bay, met recently, Bro. J. Pagani, N.G., presiding over a large attendance, Bro. _F. < Reilly, P.G., William Gane Lodge No. 5. N.S.W.. being a visitor. Several social invitations were accepted, and committee reports were adopted. Two candidates were elected and initiated in regular form, supper and cards terminating the evening. Meeting at Newtown. At a meeting of Victoria Rebekah Lodge No. 2. Newtown, Sister P. Palmer, N.G., presided over a large attendance. Two social invitations were accepted, eight candidates for membership were nominated, and one member of another Rebekah Lodge was elected an associate member. Arrangements were made for a “500” evening. A ping-pong tournament between the N.G.’s and V.G.’s teams, in. which the latter were winners, concluded the evening. Southern Cross Lodge. Southern Cross Lodge No. 24. City, met recently. Bro. E. K. Biusted. N.G., presiding. There were present Bro. G. Farrelly. N.G.. and officers of Onslow Lodge No. 12S, Khandallah, who presented the District Travelling Gavel, and Bro.'W. 11. Holmes, N.G.. Zealaudia Lodge No. 48, Newtown. One candidate was nominated, and three others were elected and initiated, after favourable reports by the investigation committees. Bro. J. G. McGregor. PG.,-reported on recent meeting of the Wellington U.F.S. Council, and was congratulated by the lodge on election as president of that body. An official visit to Kupe Lodge No. 149, Kilbirnie, was decided on, and the evening concluded with cards and supper. Bellevue Lodge No. 126 met at Lower Hutt, Bro. J. Symington. N.G., presiding. A visit was received from Bros. G. I*. Rudkin, Grand Warden. R. J. Mathers, D.D.G.M., Wellington district, and P. JLee. P.C.P.. G.L.Rep. One candidate was nominated, and favourable report on another previously nominated was received. A motion of which notice had been given was adopted, imposing a small levy to provide P.G. collars. Arrangements were made to finalise memorial for late Bro. M. Brady. P.G., and a card tournament and supper concluded a successful evening.
