On New Zealand Currency Basis DIRECT DOLLAR RATES The Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, quoted the following rates for their purchases and sales of foreign exchange yesterday:—

The Associated Banks (other than the Bank of New South Wales) quoted tbe following dollar rates yesterday on a New Zealand currency basis. Iney arc subject to alteration without notice.

New Zealand Pound Abroad Based on the rates quoted yesterday by the Bank of New South Wales, £1 New Zealand was worth approximately :— 16/1 in London. £l/0/1 in Australia 16/3J in U.S.A. 16/3J in Canada. 9/6J in France. 10/3 in Italy. 9/15} in Germany. 9/4J in Java. £l/7/7 in Japan. Australian Gas Light Co. The Australian Gas Light Company, Ltd., yesterday advised the Stock Exchange Association that the company’s share transfer register will close at the end of business on June 29 and will remain closed until qfter the annual general meeting of shareholders to be held at a date yet to be fixed.
