MOVE FOR ARMISTICE
End of Chaco War Thought In Sight

Armistice terms for the war between Paraguay and Bolivia over the Gran Chaco were initialled by the representatives of the two countries to-day. after 13 days’ mediation by live neutral South American countries. Although the respective countries must, approve, observers predict that hostilities will cease by June 15. the third anniversary of the outbreak of the war which lists been responsible at least for 100,000 casualties. The agreement provides for direct peace negotiations between the belligerents, which, if unsuccessful, will result in the matter being referred to the World Court of Arbitration.
All the horrors of modern warfare have been seen in the Chaco campaign. Late in April heavy lighting occurred on the Bolivian frontier when the Paraguayans, following up previous successes, entered Bolivian territory in a further attack that proved disastrous and resulted in their being driven back to where they had been in January.
