Grounded at Greymouth.— As the result of an unusual mishap, due to a heavy fresh in the Grey River, the Kiwitea (above) and the Omana carried away their moorings and went ashore on the northern bank of the river. This photograph shows the vessel as she was painted on her arrival in New Zealand from England after building. The Kiwitea’s sister ship, the Kaponga, went aground on the Greymouth bar in 1932 and became a total loss. The Kiwitea was refloated yesterday.
