Thieves Remove a Safe
BLOWN OPEN ON ROADWAY

Thieves who broke into the combined railway station and post office at Coalgate on Saturday night or •'arly on Sunday morning used a stolen motorcar and took the safe from the premises, drove it away, blew the safe door with dynamite, and left it on the roadway. The thieves broke into the building by a window and took one of the three safes. This they forced by filling the keyhole with an explosive Tlie car, which belonged to Mr. R. Kelt. Colombo Street, Christchurch, was found abandoned to-day in Riccarton Avenue. From the safe tlie thieves took a cheque for £l4 and £2 in cash.
