The King, on the occasion of his Jubilee, approved that six Dominion regiments should enjoy the distinction of "Royal.” These include the Australian First Light Horse Regiment, which in future will be designated “The Royal New South Wales Lancers,” and the Sixth Battalion, which is to become "The Royal Melbourne Regiment.” A similar honour has been conferred on two Canadian and two South African regiments.
