Dorne Cup Inter-club Race SATURDAY’S ACTIVITIES Preparation for the Dorne Cup inter-, club race on June 22—the first of the Wellington harrier season—was advanced another stage on Saturday, when several clubs had packs out in training runs. Owing to the appearance of the All-Inliia hockey team a few of the clubs postponed their outings, several men being expected to run informally to-day. The Wellington club postponed its annual Palmer Cup event, which has now been set down for next Saturday. Olympic harriers made no appearance as a club on account of the annual teams’ relay race, which will be held from Day’s Bay to Wellington to-day. Hutt Valley Harriers. A smart training run was completed by 22 members of the Hutt Valley club in an outing from Hutt Park. The trail, which was of five to seven miles, led over the steep pipe track to Wainui Valley. Good cross-country was traversed and the runners returned via the Wainui road. A run-in over the last 220 yards resulted in -a. win for D. Benton. B. "Walker being second and W. Loughnan third. Presbyterian Club. The Presbyterian elub had 35 runners out on a six-mile trail leading from St. Andrew’s Church. The Terrace. The paper led up Sydney Street on to th» Tinakori Hill to Wadestown, down Weld Street, and up to Ngaio, across to Waikowhai Street, following the road to Wilton’s Bush, and on up to Northland, re- . turning down Glenmore Street. K. Moore won the run-in. R. Yarrell was second, and K. Comrie third. The colts had a run of about three miles. J. Aston and J. Moncrieff put up a good performance and led at the finish b'v 500 yards. s Next Saturday the church teams’ race for the Martin Shield will be run from St. James’s Church, Newtown. Methodist Outing. There were sixteen members prescut at the weekly run Of the Methodist club, held over a nine-mile course at Island Bay. , , Most of the men covered the distance, which included much strenuous country, in good time, and have already reached inter-club racing standard. The run next week will be held from the Methodist Church, Worser Bay. at 2.45 o’clock. Methodist Club. There were 16 members present at the weekly run of the Methodist club, held - from Island Bay, over a nine-mile course. Members are reminded of the first social function of the season, to be held at Taranaki Street Schoolroom on Saturday evening. Next week’s run will be held from Worser Bay Methodist Church at 2.45 p.m.
