To the public at large the name of Harold Wright is not well known, but no one who reads the generous tributes to his memory recorded in this boolean doubt that it deserves to be. In . his life-time he exercised a widespread influence. As editor of “Granta” he was a leader of undergraduate thought at Cambridge and later, particularly through bis connection with the “Nation and Athenaeum.” lie was able to achieve a wonderful career of public service. He did an immense amount of work in the cause of peace, for the welfare of fishermen and the education of sailors. He was also a very able economist. The first three chapters of the book provide a short biographical memoir, and the remainder consists of appreciations of special phases of Harold Wright’s life and work by friends and colleagues. The contributors are Sir Norman Angell. H. D. Henderson, H. Norman Keen. Albert Mausbridge. 11. G. Maurice, Canon Mozley, and William Cavendish Searle.
