WORKER’S INJURY
£1046 Damages Claimed
Damages amounting to £1046 were claimed in the Wellington Supreme Court yesterday by Charles O’Reilly, a waterside worker, from the NapierWellington Daily Transport Co., Ltd., for injuries received by being knocked down by one of the company's lorries. The hearing was adjourned until to-day.
The accident occurred on March 5 at the intersection of Jervois Quay and Wakefield and tfaranaki Streets. Plaintiff alleged negligence against I lie driver. This was denied on the driver’s behalf by the company, which maintained that plaintiff had not taken reasonable care for his own safety. Plaintiff said that as a result of the accident he might be permanently partially disabled.'
The case is being heard before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers. And a jury. .Mr. O. C. Mazengat'b, will) him .Mr. 11. .1. V. James, appears for plaintiff and -Mr. W. E. Leicester for the company.
