The Bournemouth hard court tennis championships were continued to-day. $ Results include:— Men’s Singles.—Third round: Austin beat Avery, 6-0, 6-0, 6-2; Farquharson beat Lee, 10-8, 6-4, 6-1; Prenn beat Sharpe, 7-5, 6-2, 6-1; Perry beat Peters, 7-5. 6-3. 9-7. Men’s Doubles.—First round: Far.quharsoi) and Kirby beat Sharpe and Tuckey, 4-6, 9-7. 2-6, 6-0, 6-3; Perry and Butler beat W. Henderson and Lysaght, 6-3. 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Women’s Singles.—Third round : Miss Stammers beat Mrs. Hopman, 6-4, 6-3; Mrs. Fearnley Whittingstall beat Senorita Anita Lizana (the Chilean champion). 6-3, 4-6. 6-4. Women’s Doubles.—Second round: Mrs. Pittman and Miss Yorke beat Mrs. Hopnian and Miss Ford, 6-4, 6-2. Mixed Doubles.—Second round: Prenn and Miss Dearman beat Peters and Mrs. Peters. 7-5, 6-4. PLAYERS IN SINGLES New Zealand Davis Cup Team London, May 1. E. D. Andrews, captain of the New Zealand Davis Cup team, told the Australian Press Association’s representative that A. C. Stedman and C. E. Malfroy would play in the singles against Australia at Eastbourne, where the match commences on May 10. The doubles pair had not been chosen. Andrews has recovered from a sprained ankle. The New Zealand team is being coached in London. The Australians will go to Eastbourne on May-4 for practice.
