AUTUMN FLOWERS
Horticultural Society’s Chrysanthemum Show Exquisite varieties of flowers were exhibited at the.autumn show of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society in the King George Theatre, Lower Hutt, yesterday. An encouraging feature from (he society’s point of view was the exceptionally large attendance and the’ quantity and quality of the .entries. ■ Tbe .show was formally opened by his Excellency the GovernorGeneral, Lord Galway, whose remarks, together with those of other speakers, are reported -elsewhere. The champion of champions bloom was won by Mr. G. W. Cairns in the open chrysanthemum section, while Mr. A. E. Webley and Mrs. J. White won the amateur and novice classes respectively. Tlie Dr. J. Roberts Boyd Trophy was won by A. Hixon and Son, who won also the William Slater Memorial. Other prizes went to Mr. B. Felling. Hastings. Mr. R. J. Liver, Mrs. A. W. Freeman and Mrs. J. Browning. Medals were won by the following: Mr. F. Westbury (Cooper Memorial Gold Medal), Mr. E. L. RiddiI’ord, Mr. A. McMillan, Mr. H. J. I’oole, F. C.
