A Bill to control the so-called “ribbon development” of building along roads will shortly be introduced by tbe GovermSent. This assurance was given in tbe House Of Lords during a debate on the subject last night. Lord Munster insisted that legislation to remedy the evil must deal equitably with all the interests involved, and declared that the underlying principle must be compensation. The remedy must not be burdensome, either io landowners or local authorities, and it must be simple, effective and speedy in its operation.
