Matilda the Cat
Matilda the Cat Sits there, on the mat. She is sleek and fat,. And such a vain cat. She is coloured sandy, but wants to be black With a big white siiot on the top of her back. » • • She can’t smell a mouse, But milk’s in the house, On velvety toes She stealthily goes. While the cook is working with brush and a pan Matilda is busy with milk in a can.
In the soft firelight She doses at night. Then closing her eyes In slumber she lies. She is sweetly dreaming a wonderful dream Of a nice fat mouse and a saucer of cream.
