SPECIAL SERVICE
Work of Departmental Committee MINISTER’S APPRECIATION To mark appreciation of technical service the Minister of Finance. Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, entertained at lunch in Parliament House yesterday thirteen departmental officers who, as a special committee, took part with the Minister in devising the intricate legislation dealing with farmers’ finance. The guests were: Messrs. Paul Verschaffelt, Public Service Commissioner. A. D. Park. Secretary to the Treasury, B C. Ashwin.' second assistant secretary to the Treasury; G. E. Miller, superintendent of the State Advances De partment; IV. Ball, solicitor. State Advances Department; E. O. Hales, Publie Trustee: G. G. Rose, solicitor to the Treasury; B. L. Dallard, Under-Secre-lary of Justice; Dr. W. B. Sutch. economist secretary; Professor 11. Belshaw, economist adviser: J. R. Aicken, private secretary; J. Snell, controller of the mortgage division of the Public Trust; J. Christie, law draftsman. The Minister referred to the excellent work of the committee, and paid a special tribute to t-h.e services o£ Mr. Christie in drafting legislation dealing with vital financial problems affecting rural industry.
