SECOND RISE MADE
Netherlands Bank Rate (Received April 10, 8.40 p.m.) Amsterdam, April 10. The Netherlands bank rate has been raised to 4J per cent. The Netherlands Bank lost £15,000,000 worth of gold in the past few days in an attempt to defend the guilder against speculators. This is the second rise in the bank rate during the last week. With a view to checking the outflow of funds the Netherlands Bank last Friday raised its discount rate from 2} per cent, to 34 per cent. The rate had stood at 2} per cent, since September 18, 1933.
