LORD GALWAY TO LAND TO-MORROW

Programme Delayed, But Unchanged RANGITATA DUE THIS EVENING Although the liner Rangitata is expected to reach Wellington this evening, the Governor-General-designate, Lord Galway, and Lady Galway, will not land until to-morrow morning, when the programme of welcome, previously arranged to take place to-day, will be carried out. The only ceremony this evening will consist of the escorting of the Rangitata into the harbour by JI.M.S. Diomede and H.M.S. Leith, followed by the firing of salutes. If the hour is not too late aircraft from tlie Royal New Zealand Air Force will Uy in formation above the ship. Following Js the complete programme of welcome for to-morrow: 9.15 a.m.: His Excellency the Administrator of tlie Government (the Rt. Hou. Sir Michael Myers), attended by the acting Clerk of tlie Legislative Council, will go on board the Rangitata at Pipitea Wharf. 9.20 a.m.; The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates (acting Prime Minister) ahd other Ministers of the Crown, the General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military Forces, and the Rear-Admiral Commanding the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, will go on board to meet their Excellencies. 9.35 a.m.: Ministers of the Crown and naval and military officers will disembark, followed almost immediately by the Administrator, attended by the acting Clerk of the Executive Council. 9.40 a.m.: Lord and Lady Galway will land, a salute of 19 guns being fired by the Point .Jerningham battery, and a Royal Salute given by the Royal Naval Guard of Honour, the band playing the first six bars of tlie National Anthem. The Governor-General-desig-nate, with the Administrator, will inspect the Guard of Honour.. The chairman of the Harbour Board (Mr. T. R. Barrer) will be presented to the Governor-General-designate and Viscountess Galway by his Excellency the Administrator, who will also present Lady Myers and the wives of Ministers of the Crown. Escorted by the chairman of the Harbour Board, the Gover-nor-General-designate and Viscountess Galway with their family , and staff will proceed to a dais, where the chairman will present members of the board. He will then read a formal address of welcome. Lord Galway will read a reply. 10.5 i a.m.: Lord and Lady Galway will move from the dais and enter their 'motor-car, proceeding through the wharf shed, Hlnemoa Street, Waterloo Quay, Bunny Street, and Lambton Quay, to the Wellington War Memorial, upon which his Excellency will place a laurel wreath. The police pilot car will precede their Excellencies, who will be attended by Lieutenant Sir Standish O’Grady Roche, R.N., A.D.C. Tlie members of their Excellencies’ family and members of their personal staff will follow them. 10.20 a.m.: The party will proceed from the War Memorial, via Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Mercer Street, and Lower Cuba Street to the Town Hall, where their Excellencies and A.D.C. will alight. The Rt. Hon. J. G, Coates, who will have proceeded direct from the wharf to the Town Hall, will present his Worship the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), who will then present, at the Town Hall steps or in the vestibule, city councillors and chief officers of the council. A brief informal conversation will follow, but no s]>eeches. 10.30 a.m.: Lord and Lady Galway will proceed to Government House via Cuba Street, Manners Street, Courtenay Place, and Kent Terrace. 2.45 p.m.: Their Excellencies and personal staff, preceded by the police escort motor-car, will leave Government House for Parliament House, via Cambridge Terrace, Courtenay Place, Manners Street, Willis Street and Lambton Quay, and win enter the Parliament grounds from Molesworth Street. A military guard of honour provided by tlie G.H.Q. Training Depot, will be mounted opposite the steps of the main entrance to Parliament House. His Excellency, with two A.D.C.’s, the G.0.C., and Senior Naval Officer, will inspect the guard. After their Excellencies and suite have taken their seats on the dais, the Clerk of the Executive Council will read the Commission of Appointment. His Excellency will then take the Oath of Allegiance in the form prescribed, and likewise the'Oath of Office, which Oaths the Chief Justice will administer. When his Excellency’ completes taking the Oath of Office the Guard of Honour will give a Royal Salutel and an artillery salute of 19 guns will be fired. The Rt. Hon, J. G. Coates will deliver a speech of welcome to their Excellencies, and his Excellency will reply. The members of the South African War Veterans’ Association wil) assemble with the members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association at Parliament Buildings for the swearing-in ceremony. 8 p.m.: A civic reception will be tendered Lord and Lady Galway in the Town Hall.

CORDIAL GREETINGS Message of Welcome' The Administrator of the Government. Sir Michael Myers. has sent the following message of welcome to Viscount Galway:— “In offering my cordial greetings on your close approach to the shores of this Dominion, may I express the hope that you and Lady Galway and your family may be blessed with all happiness during your term of office. lam confident that you will receive a warmhearted welcome from all classes on your arrival.” His Excellency has received from Lord Galway a reply as follows:— “Very many thanks for your kind welcome. All well and greatly looking forward to our arrival.” SCHOOL HOLIDAY POSTPONED The Education Board desires head teachers of city schools to note that the holiday authorised for to-day is postponed until to-morrow on account of the delay in the arrival of the Rangitata.
