NO QUORUM
City and Suburban Highways Board As there was not a quorum present yesterday morning, the annual meeting of the Wellington City and Suburban Highways Board had to be postponed until another day. Six is the quorum required, but only five were present. The absence of the delinquent members not allowed to pass without comment on the part of those who did attend. One member suggested that some other members of the board might be induced to attend if a proposal were made to make another half-million raid on the petrol tax fund, ot if something about the road ramp at Kaiwarra were included on the agenda paper. Those present were the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), Messrs. G. W. Andrews (Mayor of Lower Hutt). D. R. Hoggard (chairman of the Hutt County Council), G. A. Lawrence (Johnsonville Town Board) and Councillor L. McKenzie. After waiting a quarter of an hour, Mr. Hoggard found that he had to leave. Then Councillor T. Forsyth turned up—too late to make a quorum. There was a 20-minute wait, too, before there was a quorum for the meeting of the 'Wellington City and Suburban Water Board.
